It’s a fact. Any pollster will tell you, the largest single segment in any election is the people that didn’t vote. With that in mind, North City’s newest political party running in the upcoming election is poised to take advantage of this fact. The Popular Integrated Team for You party (known as the P.I.T.Y Party) has officially registered as a party in the upcoming civic election. According to party officials P.I.T.Y. was formed to represent people who don’t vote. They want everyone to know that they intend to represent the non-voters community.
In a released statement North City’s newest party said, “We will finally bring representation to people who don’t vote but still want to be able to complain about how bad things are. Why should the biggest group of potential voters (Non-voters) not be represented by their own party? Why should voting people control everything? Sure, we don’t actual vote, but why should we be discriminated against when complaining simply because we are part of the non-voting community?
“The way we look at it, if you vote for a politician and that turns out to be a bad choice, then it would never be our fault. People who vote have elected every bad leader in our city’s history. So far non-voters have never elected one bad leader yet. Our record is perfect.”
“Critics are always saying “If you don’t vote, you don’t have a right to complain.” We find this offensive. We have complaining rights too. We think that it is BECAUSE we didn’t vote, we have the right to complain about everyone! If our leaders don’t know already what we want, it isn’t going to help much if we tell them then is it? By forming this new party we get to complaining no matter who gets elected.”
Earlier in the week, the PITY party held a rally in front of city hall. Several people held signs that said: “We Would Vote if We Weren’t So Busy Right Now” and “Non-voters Need to be Heard Somehow” The PITY party has announced a slate of potential candidates for party leadership this month but have not been able to find enough members To show up to hold elections. Apparently, their political strategy is working!
