Local resident Harriet Smith has done what many may have considered undoable . . until now. She has perfected how to load a dishwasher. And she is hoping, with a little luck, her method will form the basis of all dishwasher loading for all of humanity going forward. “I am not going to say that my method of loading a dishwasher is perfect. No human can be perfect after all, but does feel kind of divinely inspired.”

Harriet’s loading system was not always the thing of beauty that it is now.
“I can remember the days where I would load a dishwasher with little or no strategy or preparation. Then I decided that there must be a better way and so I just came up with that better way. Over time, I found myself being able to help others by rearranging and improving their loads even before they knew that the way they are loading was, sadly, not the best it could be. This lead, over time, to me developing a perfect loading method that could truly be for everyone . With a lot of hard work and a lot of reloading of everyone’s dishwashers, my method slowly came together. All that reorganizing paid off in the end. Achieving my masterpiece of dishwasher organization can only be described a calling, ”

Then Harriet thought. “Now it was time to gift her life’s work to the world.” She started with helping improve her husband re-loading and then other family members and soon she was even reorganizing washer loads at dinner parties and office staff functions. “I don’t get many dinner party invitations anymore but I still manage to find dishwashing loads that I can help with some quick rearranging. It works so well that people often ask me not to do it again after only one session.”

Harriet says that she can’t get enough of helping others to do things better. But she is not stopping at loading dishes. She is starting to work on reorganizing people’s kitchen cupboards before they even know that they are organized badly and renaming people’s household pest properly.
