The construction crew at the Jensen Bridge construction site have decided to make their work site a little homelier and inviting to crew members. Spokeman for the project, Lenny Marsh, told reporters, “We thought, what with construction delays and all those over runs, we were gong to be here for a long time. No one really knows how long but let’s just say it is going to be awhile. So, why not just help everyone feel at little more at home on the site? Just hauling in an ATCO trailer and dumping it on the site does nothing to make the crew feel like spending quality time here.”
With these new upgrades, crews can really enjoy their breaks in more of a community setting. We were thinking wouldn’t it be nice if they could even bring their families after hours for barbecues and other special events. Since there is no traffic going through the area right now, this space is a natural quiet refuge from all the distractions of our modern hurried lifestyle. It started with just a lawn and a gazebo. Now stylish comfortable seating has been added as well as Yoga classes. Although Yoga classes aren’t offered every day yet, they do happen Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
The Johnson bridge construction site is becoming much more than an inconvenient detour for traffic or an eye-sore of a construction site. It has become a model for all long-term construction sites. For the foreseeable future it has become a likeable community setting. And the future promises to bring even more. Plans are already in place to add RV parking and a vegetable garden.
