Gerold Smith is the owner of the Nice n’ Pricey gift shop at the North City airport. After heading in to work on Thursday, he suddenly realized that it was his daughter’s birthday that evening. Worse yet, he realized he was not going to be able to get back to town in time to buy a gift for her. A sense of panic began to overtake Gerold as he realized that he was going to have to do some that no self-respecting person should ever have to do: buy a gift from one of the other airport shops! What he had dreaded for years was now about to happen.
This was so crazy. Now HE was going to have to pay twice the price for a gift he could have easily gotten on sale in town if he had just remembered in time. Everyone knows that airport gifts are usually useless mementos or trendy trinkets and not something anyone should give or get on a birthday. On the plus side of things though, he knew that whatever he bought at the airport would probably end up in the trash in weeks. Still it would be a black mark in his gift giving just the same.
Gerold ended up buying a fuzzy stuffie toy that looked like some kind of unidentifiable animal and some gourmet candy corn that was more expensive than a monthly payment on his first car. Lesson learned he thought, he pledged right then and there to use his calendar phone app on more often and never end up at the mercy of totally made up retail prices again.
